The 50th Independence Anniversary Edition

Fifty years is quite a long period in the life of any nation, especially measured by the pace of global progress in all spheres. While we cannot be said to be static, we should ask ourselves if we are making progress or retrogressing.

Education, being the surest vehicle to economic and social development of a nation, our theme for this anniversary edition is "Education in Nigeria in the last 50 years." In its most basic form, literacy for all brings about positive social transformation and good governance.

Eduquest Magazine decided to use this momentous occassion of the Independence Anniversary for stock taking in the educational sector. In doing this, we spoke with Professor Jubril Aminu, former minister for Education and Dr. E.O. Aina, the director, Education Resource Centre, FCT. That the labours of our heroes may not be in vain, we feature Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first President of Nigeria for the young ones to learn from our national icons. Our book choice,"A man of the people" by Chinua Achebe is a captivating satiric novel that guarantees an entertaining and breath taking time as you read.

This free edition is given to you as our contribution to ensure that Nigerian youths read.
